Adoption loss grief support, education, advocacy and community for parents who’ve lost children to adoption.
Our Mission
Concerned United Birthparents (CUB) provides support for all family members separated by adoption; resources to help prevent unnecessary family separations; education about the life-long impact on all who are affected by adoption; and advocates for fair and ethical adoption laws, policies, and practices.
Since 1976.
Concerned United Birthparents (CUB) is the first and only national organization founded and funded entirely by parents of adoption loss. We serve all those touched by adoption. Although our focus is on parents of adoption loss as we, along with adopted persons, are marginalized voices in the institution, we welcome everyone including adoptive parents and professionals serving our community. We find that we all have much to learn from each other and that sharing our wisdom and experiences benefits all of us.
Each year, CUB hosts a healing retreat for all members of the adoption triad, and all who are interested in learning more about the adoption experience. We usually meet by the shore so there is beauty and space for reflection and rest in between our sessions. You wont find the schedule packed with too many choices. We focus on a core program so we can make the most of our annual time in person together.
The Truth About Adoption
Adoption is a Billion Dollar Industry
For every 1 child given up for adoption, there are 36 families waiting to adopt. Many vulnerable mothers are coerced into giving up their babies to meet the demand. Adoption agencies promote adoption to sustain their profitable business.
Adoption is Trauma
Infants separated from their mothers at birth experience trauma. They long for their mother, the only connection the baby had prior to birth.
1 in 4 adoptees suffer from thoughts of suicide.
Adoption Can Cause Lifelong Grief
Losing a baby to adoption is a painful experience that leads to lifelong grief that is often not recognized by society. Many birth mothers suffer in silence and are told to “move on” after they’ve lost their child, however the grieving never stops.
