More Details...

First parent's experiences with relinquishment and adoption are often  complicated and can result in feelings of helplessness or shame; we  might be delighted or terrified of reunion, blissfully in the fog or  raging as we surface from it. Wherever you are on the journey, you may  find yourself stuck and at a loss for growing beyond the grief. One tool  to move through the emotional turmoil is writing. Expressing our  thoughts, fears, and emotions freely on the page can help diffuse the  intense emotional energy and bring clarity. If you want to explore  writing about your relinquishment and adoption experiences in a safe,  supportive environment, please consider joining the CUB WRITING GROUP.

This  is a once-per-month virtual space for first parents who are interested  in writing about their relinquishment and adoption experiences. It is  intended to facilitate the writer’s ability to process and learn about  their own experiences. The group will provide a safe and supportive  space to write collectively, using writing prompts and other tools to  facilitate creativity. Writings can be kept private or shared with the  group based on personal comfort and needs.

This group is not a therapy group, nor do therapists run it, and it is not a substitute for professional therapy. Facilitators are volunteering their time and expertise. They intend to use their lived experiences as first parents, writers, artists, and facilitators to support the group. Participants agree to practice exquisite self-care and seek professional help when needed.

We look forward to writing with you!
