Become a peer facilitator

Right now, our monthly Zoom Support Group needs (3) peer facilitators every month. We cap attendance at the meeting to 36 participants* so we can guarantee small groups of no more than 12 attendees + 1 peer facilitator. When you facilitate, the time commitment is a total max of 2 hours between the actual day-of meeting (1 hour 30 minutes) and the ‘tech run through’ (15 minutes) the day before. That’s it!

We task facilitators with one job: create a safe and healing space for attendees to give and receive support from each other. We find the groups to be generally really collaborative in that attendees and facilitators work together to ensure everyone who wants to speak is heard. Attendees’ expectations are set going into the call so everyone knows the meeting is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

We offer a 30-minute training to those interested in becoming a facilitator. In that session, we’ll equip you with the things we know you’ll need to feel comfortable facilitating including basic knowledge of Zoom and how to “read the digital room.” Zoom Support Groups can differ greatly from in-person support groups but we truly believe most of our members—like you!— are skilled enough to be an effective facilitator and we are happy to have your volunteerism. The first step in becoming a facilitator is to attend a meeting as a participant so you can experience it at least once. If you’ve already done that, use the form below and let us know if you’re interested in becoming a facilitator and we’ll be in touch! Thank you!

*We’d love to expand it to meet the demand we have but we need more facilitators in our queue!
